  3. When complete a service called The Ping Master will be installed and started. It will be configured to run under the Network Service account. The installation folder will have been granted write access to this folder. If you'd rather use a different account then just change it using the Services manager.

Usage Instructions

To configure The Ping Master launch the configuration tool that you can find it in your start menu. It will look like this:

The various settings are described below:

Test Interval
The time, in seconds, between tests of the addresses.

Timeout
The time allowed for a response from a ping before it is deemed to have failed.

Retry attempts before failure
The number of times a ping to a given address should be allowed to fail before giving up and signalling a failure.

Retry on network exception
Some errors such as invalid addresses throw exceptions when you attempt to ping them. If you are getting a repeated failure but don't know why try turning this off and you'll get an error in the log. When on the exception is treated in the same way as an issue such as a timeout.

Success Command
If specified then this application will be run when an address is successfully pinged. Note that the account the service runs under must be able to run the application.

Success Command Parameters
Any parameters you want to supply to the success command.

Failure Command
If specified then this application will be run when an address cannot be pinged. Note that the account the service runs under must be able to run the application.

Failure Command Parameters
Any parameters you want to supply to the failure command.

Addresses
Use the add and remove button to add addresses to the list to be pinged.
